Bird Brick House
The Bird Brick House- cleverly designed nest boxes with a removable brick front- provides permanent nesting holes and roosting sites as a part of the fabric of a building. They offer a simple and inexpensive way to reduce the impact of building development on the natural habitat of birds and bats.
The company was founded by Duncan and Jenny McCutchan, who have combined their experience of 25 years in the building trade and years installing and monitoring barn owl nest boxes in east Sussex. They discovered that new buildings were offering less and less opportunities for wildlife.
They started building nest sits in stone and flint walls in 2001, but because they were difficult to clean out they designed a brick bird box with a removable front for easy access.
